Eriador

The lands between the Blue Mountains and the Misty Mountains, Eriador was once dominated by the Dunedain realm of Arnor, but is now a largely empty land.

Some of the regions of Eriador in TA2946 include:

Blue Mountains, the western mountain range which separates Eriador from what remains of Beleriand, now known as Lindon.

Tower Hills (Emyn Beraid), a series of steep hills which form the ancient border between Lindon and Arnor.

Great East Road, the road running from Lindon across Eriador (through the Shire, Breeland and Rhudaur), before passing over the Misty Mountains and into the Wilderland.

The Shire, home of the Hobbits, a region protected by the Dunedain Rangers.

Bree and Breeland, a region of mixed mannish and Hobbit peoples, east of the Shire.

Rhudaur, once a successor kingdom to Arnor, but now a wild and dangerous place.

Trollshaws, a forested and hill regions of Rhudaur between the rivers Hoarwell and Loudwater.

The Angle, a region south of the Trollshaws, formed by the Hoarwell and Loudwater rivers. Hobbits once dwelt here, before moving west to the Shire.

Hoarwell River (Mitheithel), rising in the Ettenmoors, flowing southwest. Together with the Loudwater (Bruinen), it formed the Angle. The Hoarwell and Glanduin rivers combine at the Swanfleet Marshes to form the Greyflood (Gwathló) river.

Rivendell (Imladris) a hidden sanctuary of the Elves in the foothills of the Misty Mountains, near the Ford of Bruinen.

Loudwater River (Bruinen), a river rising in the Misty Mountains near High Pass.

Ford of Bruinen - where the Dwarven or Eastern Road across Eriador cross the Bruinen river before snaking up through the Misty Mountains towards High Pass.

Eregion (Hollin), a region once inhabited by Noldor Elves, who dwelt primarily at Ost-in-Edhil, where the Rings of Power were created.

Ost-in-Edhil, ruins of an ancient  Noldorin city, where the Sirranon and Glanduin rivers met.

Sirranon River, the 'gate-stream' of Khazad-Dum (Moria). Beginning at the Silvertine, it flowed pasted the Gates of Moria towards the Glanduin river.

Glanduin River (Border River), once the southern boundary of Eregion, and later the realm of Arnor. Joins with the Hoarwell river to form the Swanfleet Marshes.

Swanfleet Marshes (Nîn-in-Eilph), marshy area where the Glanduin joins the Hoarwell Rivers. The ruins of Tharbad lie at it southern end.

Tharbad - ruins of a Dunedain city, once a the major city of Cardolan, only finally abandoned following major floods following the Fell Winter in TR2912.

Coldfells, a hilly region north of the Trollshaws, part of the eastern foothills of the Misty Mountains.

Ettenmoors, a region north of the source of the Hoarwell River, said to be the home of hill trolls and giants.

Mount Gram, a tall peak at the western end of a spur of the Misty Mountains, separating the Ettenmoors from Angmar.

Angmar, once the Land of the Witch-King, now a cold and windswept wasteland between two arms of the Misty Mountains.
